Thermal strips: Make thermal strip processing simple and efficient

Inserting thermal strips between two pieces of aluminium sounds fairly easy. However, when creating door or window frames using aluminium profiles, it's vital that the thermal strip is placed accurately. Muller TB Technologies AG manufactures some of the world's most widely used thermal strip machinery. Why not take a closer look at how you can make the thermal strip stage simple and more cost effective?

Choose efficient thermal strips equipment

Since 1965, Muller TB Technologies AG has developed a range of machinery for various aluminium insulation processes, including thermal strip insertion. A thermal strip is inserted between two aluminium profiles, often in an insulating bar, to provide a conductive layer that will prevent the aluminium from overheating or freezing. In the past, frames without thermal strips or with inadequate thermal breaks were common. Modern equipment such as that designed by Muller has revolutionised thermal strip insertion. Thanks to something as simple as a thermal strip, buildings are less prone to damp and condensation and fuel bills are lower. Many older buildings have been saved by simply replacing old window frames with thermal strip double glazed frames when renovating. So just why is something as simple as the thermal strip insulating bar so effective? A thermal strip acts as a barrier between the inside and outside layer of aluminium. It prevents either side from leeching heat or cold and being as strongly affected by ambient temperature. The thermal strip itself is made from a strong, durable polyamide and this method replaces the dated cut and pour method which was used to create a thermal break in old-style one piece extruded frames.

The classic way to insert thermal strips

For the thermal strip to be effective you require an assembly machine that is able to complete the step efficiently. The Muller E/A Assembly Machine has been specifically designed to feed the thermal strip into the cavities of both aluminium profiles. It can be connected to your existing assembly line and has optionally two magazines each of which takes 9 thermal strips. The thermal strip is fed into the insulating bars via toothed wheels and each of the two insertion heads is fully adjustable. 4 hardened feeding wheels and a special steel insulating bar guide ensure that every thermal strip is placed accurately. Depending on your requirements, you might choose the Muller E-100 Assembly Machine to make thermal strip insertion faster and more efficient. Both machines offer a reliable method of thermal strip insertion and each model can be operated easily by one or two persons.

Thermal strip placement is just one of many processes that are required to create your finished product. It makes sense to choose the best equipment for each stage and Muller AG offers a wide range of aluminium profile insulation and assembly machinery. The new way to insert thermal strips

While in the classic method we insert the strip into the stationary profiles, we intergrate the two processes of knurling and inserting into one operation. The strips are hold with clamps while the profile is beeing knurled and slide into the strips. This method reduces the labour intense manipulation of the profiles and also reduces the total workspaces of your Thermal Break line needed in your factory.
